Chia seeds are a nutritional powerhouse, packed with omega-3 fatty acids, fibre, and antioxidants. They support heart health, aid digestion, and promote weight loss by providing a feeling of fullness. These tiny seeds are also versatile, easily added to various dishes, contributing to a balanced and healthy diet.
How much chia seeds should you consume in a day?
20-30g (1.5-2 tablespoons) of chia seeds is enough to consume, depending on your need of fibre intake. 30g of Chia seeds should give you 11-12g of dietary fibre. The RDA of dietary fibre varies from 25-35g as per FSSAI.
How can you consume Chia seeds?
Chia seeds can be consumed cooked or raw. You can eat chia seeds raw by simply adding them on cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, smoothies, or lemonade / juices. They can also be added to baked goods and muffins. Chia seed gel can be used in place of eggs in baking. To make this gel just soak 1 part chia seeds in 3-part water, once the seeds are completely soaked (in about 5-10mins) blend the gel and stir.
What is the difference between black chia seeds and while chia seeds?
Nutritionally there is minimal difference between black and white chia seeds. Both contain essentially the same amount of omega-3, protein, fibre, and other nutrients.
